Hello! I’m Chema

My passion for scale modeling began as a child, building wooden cut‑outs with my father and later discovering my first kit in 2007. What started as a hobby soon became a journey – through contests, friendships, and countless hours at the workbench.

From my early Spitfire to award‑winning biplanes, I’ve developed my own techniques to bring aviation history to life at scale. Along the way, I’ve shared this passion in books, articles, and collaborations, and my models have been recognized at leading contests across Europe.

For me, each aircraft is more than a model—it’s a story of patience, research, and respect for history.

Building History in Scale

Each of these models represents a step forward in my journey as a scale modeler. The Bristol F2B pushed me to explore aircraft mechanics, the Salmson 2‑A2 became a canvas for weathering and engine detailing, and the Nieuport XVII Early was my first encounter with Copper State Models.
These projects reflect my passion for aviation history and the search for authenticity in every build. I invite you to visit my portfolio to discover more models and photos.

METHODS

The Craft of Building in Scale

Wings & Rigging began as a way to share my models and experiences after winning my first medal at Telford. What started in forums and blogs soon grew into guides and my first book, Bristol “The Crocodile”, which reached readers worldwide.

Since then, I’ve continued creating guides and books to share techniques, materials, and finishes—always with the goal of bringing aviation history to life at scale. I hope they inspire you as much as the process inspires me.

Scale modeling with soul—focused on WWI aircraft and the craft behind every build.
